Best: #1 You can get stationed anywhere.
#2 Also, there are tons of specialties within Intel, so if you get stuck with a job you don't like...no worries, you can always do something completely different next. Examples, Targeting, SIGINT, IMINT, HUMINT, MASINT, etc... #3 Access to the best info.

Worst: #1 You can get stationed anywhere. #2 Some operational units treat Intel as a support function, not as an equal team member. # 3 No bonus.

What are the different specialties that you talked about? SGINT, IMINT, etc?

Which are more competitive to get into?

Stealth Cadet: Good thing about Intel is that you graduate an Intel Officer, which means you have no specialty. You gain specialties by job experience.

Targeting: bombs, rockets, fuzes, weaponeering, targeting school.

SIGINT: Signals Intelligence...electronic beeps and squeeks.

IMINT: Imagery Intelligence.

HUMINT: Human Resources Intelligence.

MASINT: Measurement & Signature INtelligence.

GEOINT: Geospatial Intelligence.

None are necessarily more competitive to get into...it's just that the AF does more of certain -INTs like SIGINT, IMINT, Targeting. Not so much HUMINT.

We are a jack of all trades AFSC. You will be expected to do a lot of different Intel jobs throughout your career.

The best thing about Intel is that you can get stationed at lots of joint commands where you can learn from your Navy brethren. :~)
